ONDA Lifting for the Lower Face Line: A Single-Session Case for Double Chin and Jawline in a Woman in Her 30s – image 1

Hello, this is Dr. Han Ji-young of ACRO Korean Medicine Clinic :)

Many people say it’s not very noticeable from the front, but in side-profile photos the area under the chin bothers them.

When the line from the tip of the chin to the neck blurs, the lower part of the face — the lower face — can easily look larger than it really is.

Today I’d like to introduce a case of a woman in her 30s concerned about her double chin and jawline,

who had one session of ONDA (microwave lifting) at 65,000 J.

Patient Background: A Woman in Her 30s with a Double Chin Visible in Profile

The patient was a woman in her early 30s, and this was her first visit.

From the front, the tip of her chin was rounded and the line toward the jaw angle looked softly spread out.

From the side, volume sat under the chin, so the boundary between the jaw and the neck flowed in a gentle slope.

She was not particularly heavy, so in a case like this, the core of the concern

is the volume of the fat layer under the chin rather than skin sagging, and a treatment that delivers energy down to the fat layer is a good fit.

Treatment Strategy: 65,000 J of ONDA on the Lower Face Line

ONDA (microwave lifting) is a treatment that delivers heat to the fat layer using 2.45GHz microwaves, inducing both fat reduction and collagen contraction and regeneration.

It sends energy to the desired depth while the skin surface is protected by cooling.

In this case, we targeted the double chin and jawline — in other words, the entire lower face line.

The goal was to reduce the volume under the chin while sharpening the line running from the tip of the chin to the jaw angle.

Changes in Photos: The Lower Face Line Right After Treatment

Front view immediately after 1 ONDA session

In the front photo, the lower face line running from the tip of the chin to the jaw angle looks a little slimmer and more refined right after treatment.

The redness on the cheeks is temporary warmth right after the microwave heat was delivered.

Side view immediately after 1 ONDA session

The left side view is the photo where the change is easiest to see.

Before treatment, the volume under the chin hung downward, so the area between the jaw and neck

flowed in a rounded curve.

Right after treatment, the volume under the chin decreased and a defined angle appeared where the area below the chin turns into the neck.

On the right side as well, the line from under the chin to the neck is more refined than before treatment.

There is some difference in the camera angle, but you can see that the lower face line has become more defined overall.

These photos show her right after a single session,

and the immediate change is mainly instant tightening caused by collagen contracting in response to heat.

Fat breakdown and collagen regeneration get properly under way over about 2–3 weeks after treatment, and improvement in elasticity continues until around 12 weeks.

Clinical Point: Judge the Lower Face Line from the Side

First, a double chin is seen accurately from the side rather than the front.

Even if the change looks small in a front photo alone, from the side it is immediately clear how much the boundary between the jaw and neck has been refined.

In this case, too, the difference was greater from the side than from the front.

Second, from your 30s, the elasticity that supports the skin also begins to decline little by little, along with volume under the chin.

If only the volume is reduced, the line may look less defined.

With ONDA, fat reduction and collagen contraction happen at once, so it suits the lower face in your 30s, where both are present.

Downtime and Recommended Sessions

ONDA causes almost no bruising or swelling, so you can go about your daily life right after treatment.

On the day of treatment, your skin may be red from the warmth, but this usually settles within a few hours.

To build up the effect, we recommend 1–2 additional sessions at 3–4 week intervals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Could my lower face look large because of a double chin?

A. Yes. When volume sits under the chin, the boundary between the jaw and neck blurs, and the lower face can look larger than it really is.

In such cases, simply reducing the volume under the chin can make the lower face line look more refined.

Q. Will I see a change after just one ONDA session?

A. Even right after one session, tightening from collagen contraction is visible.

However, volume reduction progresses over 2–3 weeks, and for a cumulative effect we recommend 1–2 more sessions at 3–4 week intervals.

Q. Can I return to daily life right after treatment?

A. Yes. There is almost no bruising or swelling, and the warmth on the day usually settles within a few hours.

TreatmentONDA (microwave lifting)
Energy65,000J
SessionsBefore and immediately after 1 session
DowntimeAlmost none (warmth on the day)
Recommendation1–2 additional sessions at 3–4 week intervals

If the area under your chin is the first thing you notice in side-profile photos, the cause may be volume under the chin rather than your weight.

If the lower face line is your concern, we recommend starting by checking how much volume there is from the side.
