WHY THE FIRST 3 MONTHS
After stopping,
weight rises fastest early on
While you use it, GLP-1 helps keep weight off by reducing how much you eat. When it stops, that help goes away, so food intake and weight can rise again. Regain is fastest right after stopping and then slows down
In an analysis of 6 clinical trials (3,236 people), about 60% of the weight lost during treatment had returned one year after stopping GLP-1

Three-month records of people who started ACRO care after stopping GLP-1
In-clinic study · data as of 2026.10.19 · 424 people who started ACRO care after GLP-1
- After starting ACRO care clinic records · median
- Typical course after stopping GLP-1 estimate from clinical trials
146/150did not regain more than 2% at about 3 months
- −6.3%Weight change at about 3 months Median · 150 people
- −7.4%Weight change at about 6 months Median · 66 people
- 1 in 4lost more than 9% at about 3 months
- This is not a comparative trial, so it reflects ACRO care as a whole (consultation, prescription and follow-up), not herbal medicine alone. Final figures may change after IRB-approved analysis
- The typical course is an estimate: the 1-year weight gain of participants switched from tirzepatide to placebo (about +14%, SURMOUNT-4) fitted to the meta-analysis curve of regain after stopping GLP-1 (Budini 2026). These are different groups, so direct comparison is limited
- Individual results vary

FAQ
Care after GLP-1:
Frequently asked questions
Written by ACRO Korean Medicine Clinic doctors · Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam, Seoul
Last updated 2026.10.19
Q01When do I start herbal medicine after stopping GLP-1?
It depends on the product, your last dose, current symptoms and other medications, so we decide after your consultation. If you consult before stopping, we can plan around your stopping date
Q02Will herbal medicine prevent rebound weight gain?
Weight change after stopping varies, and herbal medicine alone cannot guarantee weight maintenance. We adjust the plan by tracking weight, appetite, eating and daily habits together
Q03I am using Wegovy or Mounjaro. Can I take herbal medicine as well?
Combining is decided carefully after an in-person consultation. We check your product, dose, injection schedule, medications and health, and do not recommend combining for everyone
Q04When should I stop GLP-1?
Discuss timing with the clinician who prescribed your GLP-1. We do not recommend stopping on your own, and we help you prepare weight and eating plans for before and after stopping
Q05What if I have nausea, vomiting or severe abdominal pain while on GLP-1?
Do not add medicines or herbal medicine on your own. Contact or see the clinic that prescribed your GLP-1 first. Severe or persistent symptoms need prompt medical evaluation
Q06Can I consult if I use it to treat diabetes?
Yes, but any change to or stopping of diabetes medication must be decided by your prescribing clinician. Please tell us your current blood sugar status and medications
