1. Patient Rights

A. Right to Receive Medical Care

Patients have the right to receive appropriate healthcare services. They shall not be discriminated against based on gender, age, religion, status, or economic circumstances. Medical professionals may not refuse treatment without just cause.

B. Right to Know and Self-Determination

Patients have the right to receive full explanations about their condition, treatment methods, expected outcomes, side effects, and costs from their attending physician or nurse, and to decide whether to consent.

C. Right to Confidentiality

Patients' physical and health-related secrets and privacy shall be protected. Medical professionals and institutions may not disclose such information without patient consent, except as required by law.

D. Right to Request Consultation and Mediation

Patients may apply for consultation and mediation with the Korea Medical Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Agency in case of medical service disputes.


2. Patient Responsibilities

A. Duty of Trust and Respect Toward Medical Professionals

Patients shall accurately provide their health information to medical professionals and trust and respect the treatment plan.

B. Duty Not to Receive Treatment Through Fraudulent Means

Patients must verify their identity before treatment and shall not receive treatment under another person's name or through other fraudulent means.
